Always schedule the actual travelling around your child, no matter if you are flying or driving. Travelling during off-peak season, during the middle of the week and during daytime could make your travel experience not only cheaper but also more enjoyable.

Make sure well in advance that you have all the right travel documents in place. Apply in time for passport and check if your child needs any visa.

Non-stop flights are always preferable when flying with young children. Bring chewing gum along as it can help alleviating discomfort caused by the change in the cabin air pressure during take-offs and landings.

When flying with toddler you might want to use child aviation restraint harness. It is significantly less bulky than car safety seat, it is light, easy to use, as well as straightforward to pack and store in your hand luggage.

If you are travelling with a car seat to use only at your travel destination, then check it in along with your luggage at the airport. You might even want to consider renting one at the other end.

Always to bring more snack and drinks then you think you will need for your journey. You never know when it will become handy, for example if you experience some travel delays. When choosing snack for your trip think fun and healthy snack with minimal mess potential.

All children can have minor accidents or medical problems while travelling but young children are most at risk. Never travel with young children without bringing along first aid kit and make sure you have adequate travel insurance cover.
