Some Mummy friends and I were having a chin-wag this morning about our little darlings and their behaviour, particularly the battles and power struggles we encounter on a daily basis. It can seem that on some days every thing is a fight and yet on other days, things just seem to magically fall into place. How is that? What makes the difference?
But then other days, somehow I miraculously skim though his 'bad moment' and we both come out smiling. Before I picked up Breaking the Good Mom Myth, I chalked it up to luck of the draw, however after reading this great book I felt liberated and made some immediate changes to how I reacted and treated my child. Low and behold, almost immediately, we had more days when we were both smiling than those we spent in a war of wills. My husband even jumped on the happy wagon and applied some of the same tactics and suddenly nappy changes weren't a major fight between them, bath time was fun again and Mum wasn't called into rescue both parties!
This book by Alyson Schafer has helped me in so many ways I have to share it! Its a gem and her practical PROVEN advice really does work! The hard part is remembering to apply it in the moment, but if you can (and you will) you'll find the quickly tantrums fade, the power struggles cease and you can get back to enjoying motherhood and your child. I sure did!
